Hunter Matson

ABOUT SPEAKER:

Hunter Matson is a trade policy expert with more than a decade experience working with central government departments in the United States, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.  He has a strong knowledge of WTO rules and agreements, and has specialized expertise in trade and gender, indigenous trade, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). 

Hunter previously worked at the UK’s Institute of Export & International Trade where he led the Institute’s work on trade policy and external engagement. Earlier he worked on sanitary and phytosanitary import regulations for the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries. 

He has authored white papers on topics such as TradeTech, intra-African trade, and trade in services. He has also participated in expert panels at the UK-US MSME Dialogue and the WTO Public Forum, commenting on geopolitical events impacting global trade and policy initiatives needed to support more inclusive and sustainable trade.

Hunter holds a MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a BA in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
