From the trendy music label\, Rituals Music\, which she\nco-founded and managed in the 1990s to the ownership of the historic Rhyners’ music store at\nPiarco International Airport\, to artist management\, production of fashion shows and major\nevents\, Lorraine has extensive experience in film production\, artist and event management.\nLorraine has been involved in the phenomenal success of Calypso music icon\, Calypso Rose and\nworks consistently with the team behind Soca music superstar\, Machel Montano while she co-\nmanages the talented\, Nailah Blackman. \nIn 2016\, Lorraine was the line producer of the feature film\, “Bazodee” which opened in over\n130 cinemas across the USA. In 2017\, she was the local fixer for the famous CNN TV series\nAnthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown\, Trinidad\, and in 2018\, the local facilitator for the “Amazing\nRace” CBS TV series\, which aired in October 2020. \nIn 2019\, Lorraine was instrumental in presenting Calypso Rose\, Machel Montano\, and Nailah\nBlackman at Coachella\, one of the world’s top international music festivals and the same year\nthe three artists performed on stage at the world-famous Olympia Concert Hall in Paris\, France.\nLorraine is also a director on the board of FilmTT (the company responsible for the\ndevelopment of the film industry in Trinidad and Tobago).\nLorraine is currently General Manager at C15 Studios Ltd\, a Caribbean cash flow solutions\ncompany servicing the Creative sector.

She holds a master’s degree in international law\nand economics from the World Trade Institute\, University of Bern\, Switzerland\, where she\nfocused on international trade and investment law and policy.\nAkshata has been working at the International Trade Centre (ITC) as an advisor on sustainability\nstandards and global value chains. She contributes to the development of the Standards Map\nglobal repository of sustainability standards\, codes of conduct\, and audit protocols\n(www.standardsmap.org). The emphasis will be on identifying the\nopportunities and how companies in Curacao can make use of the unique position of Bonaire\,\nSt. Eustatius\, and Saba in the Netherlands\, the EU\, and Latin America.\nA roundtable meeting with the Special Envoy for the BES islands for EU- and UN-funding and\neconomic relations with Latin America. During this session\, the Special Envoy will explain his\nrole and position and discuss with participants the terms of doing business in\, with\, and\nthrough the BES islands. The emphasis will be on identifying the opportunities and how\ncompanies in Curacao can make use of the unique position of Bonaire\, St. Eustatius\, and Saba in\nthe Netherlands\, the EU\, and Latin America. \nBio Edison Rijna – Special Envoy for the BES-islands for EU- and UN- funding and economic\nrelations with Latin America \n \nBorn in Bonaire on July 7 th \, 1967\, Edison Rijna has dedicated his career to serving the people of\nBonaire and the wider Caribbean region. He is a respected figure in the politics and finance\nindustry\, with extensive experience in various roles. \nSince April 18th\, 2023\, Mr. Rijna has taken up the role of Special Envoy for the BES islands for\nEU- and UN funding and economic relations with Latin America. In this capacity\, he is\nresponsible for representing the interests of the BES islands in various international forums\,\npromoting economic relations with Latin America\, and securing funding from the European\nUnion and the United Nations for important initiatives in the region.\nBefore he was appointed Special Envoy\, Mr. Rijna served as the Governor of Bonaire\, a position\nhe was appointed to in 2014. \nMr. Rijna obtained his bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance in 1996\, and subsequently\nworked for several private companies in the banking sector between 2004 and 2011. He also\nserved as the executive director of Bon Recycling B.V.\, a waste recycling company in Bonaire\nthat aimed to create awareness among the people of Bonaire about the importance and\nbenefits of recycling. \nThroughout his career\, Mr. Rijna has demonstrated a commitment to public service and a\npassion for improving the lives of those around him. His extensive experience in the banking\nsector\, coupled with his political and leadership skills\, make him an ideal candidate for the role\nof Special Envoy for the BES islands.
